Launch of ISIS and Nordic Forum Blogsites

17 February 2010

The Institute for Strategic and International Studies (ISIS) and the Nordic Forum of Australia, two of Paradigm Infinitum's non-profit arms, now have a web presence via blogsites.

“We chose blogsites as a medium for a number of reasons. Firstly, we wanted ISIS and the Nordic Forum to have a separate but linked identity to Paradigm Infinitum itself. Secondly, blogsites are easy to update and easy to maintain so it provides added flexibility. Finally, we wanted to invite direct input from readers in the form of comment and feedback, and even articles and research from some of our course participants,” said Paradigm Infinitum General Manager Shona Leppänen-Gibson.

The aim of ISIS and the Nordic Forum is to provide a forum for discussion and analysis, as well as a way for Paradigm Infinitum to give back to the community. It is also an avenue to interact with former participants of Paradigm Infinitum training programmes by engaging them in major emerging issues, and offering opportunities to contribute to discourse on these issues through our research fellow programme.

ISIS is engaged in a range of activities focusing on objective policy analysis and fostering dialogue and debate within and between the public sector, the private sector, elected representatives, academia and the informed public. The Nordic Forum is an independent think-tank set up by Paradigm Infinitum, an Australian based consulting and training business. The Nordic Forum operates in conjunction with other non-profit arms of Paradigm Infinitum, including ISIS and The Asia Business Forum.

An important key event for ISIS and the Nordic Forum and for Paradigm Infinitum itself is the upcoming Year of the Tiger 2010 International Business Ball. Paradigm Infinitum, ISIS, the Nordic Forum, and another non-profit networking group, the Asia Business Forum, will get together to hold an annual fundraising ball for Chinese New Year. The Ball will feature a keynote speaker and a special guest business panel, including an international business professor, and a former state trade minister. The Ball will also raise money for Station Officer David Galvin, a firefighter and technical rescue officer from the Queensland Fire and Rescue Service, and a recent participant in the Paradigm Infinitum LEAD Programme. Dave was recently paralysed in an accident during his spare time and the staff of Paradigm Infinitum have decided to use this year's fundraiser to raise money for Dave.

"For Paradigm Infinitum, the relationship between our facilitators and our participants does not cease once our courses are complete. This year's Ball and our commitment to raise money for David is one example of this. But we hope that our former participants and others who are interested in strategic and international issues will take the opportunity to become involved and contribute to ISIS and the Nordic Forum as well," said Kiong Chan, CEO.
