'New Media and the Informed Citizen': Interviews Released

and Website Now Available in Malay

26 July 2010

The project website for "New Media and the Informed Citizen" (NMIC), a Paradigm Infinitum research project funded by the Australia-Malaysia Institute, has recently been upgraded. This upgrade includes the release of all transcripts of interviews undertaken in Malaysia with bloggers, editors, politicians and other new media users, as well as the release of the Malay version of the website (Bahasa Melayu). The Bahasa version of the NMIC website has the full functionality of the original English version of the website and is also hosted on the Paradigm Infinitum website.

"The release of the Bahasa version of the website is an important milestone in the project. We are very pleased that this aspect of the project brief has now been fulfilled. We are looking forward to the release of the final version of the report, which is imminent," said Shona Leppanen-Gibson, NMIC project team member and General Manager of Paradigm Infinitum.

Two of the interviews from Malaysia are also now available on YouTube. The NMIC Project Team undertook ten interviews in Malaysia, including an interview with the former Prime Minister and Malaysia's number one blogger, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad. An edited version of the interview with Tun Dr Mahathir has been uploaded to YouTube, as has an interview with YB Khairy Jamaluddin, Member of Parliament for Rembau and UMNO Youth President. Other interviews are currently in post-production, however full transcripts of the interviews are available now from the NMIC website. When ready, the final version of the video will be uploaded to YouTube and made available through the NMIC website.
