First Intake of Leading through Mentoring and Coaching
In August, Paradigm Infinitum commenced its pilot programme 'Leading through Mentoring and Coaching' to a cohort of learners within the Queensland Fire and Rescue Service (QFRS). Completion of the course satisfies two units of competence within the Vocational Graduate Certificate in Organisational Learning and Capability Development.
The aim of this course is to develop mentoring and coaching skills among participants in order for them to successfully mentor and coach others. It is unique programme in that learners are actively mentored and coached by their facilitators as they undertake a workplace based mentoring and coaching project. Through this course and their project, participants learn and practice the skills necessary to plan, implement, monitor and evaluate workplace based mentoring and coaching. The course also examines coaching and mentoring through a wider organisatonal perspective, developing the skills necessary to lead learning within the organisation.
"Today, organisations in both the private sector and government sector are expected to do more with less, which ultimately means they are making greater demands on their employees to learn and develop with little access to resources or time. More than ever before, coaching and mentoring has become a critical skill for development and learning within organisations, and also a critical skill for leaders " said Kiong Chan, CEO of Paradigm Infinitum.
"I am so pleased that the QFRS recognises this and understands the importance and value of organisational learning for its future sustainability. It is through the leadership and vision of Chief Superintendent Andrew Short, Director of the School of Fire and Rescue Service Training, that this pilot programme has been implemented. The level of enthusiasm and interest of both the learners and the organisation as a whole thus far has been very encouraging."
'Leading through Mentoring and Coaching' is accredited as part of the Vocational Graduate Certificate in Organisational Learning and Capability Development. Those who successfully complete the course will gain two units of competence within the Vocational Graduate Certificate (four units required). Completion of the Vocational Graduate Certificate also provides a pathway to further studies in the Vocational Graduate Diploma of Organisational Learning and Capability Development.
'Leading through Mentoring and Coaching' will run from August to December and is delivered in an online/flexible format.
Paradigm Infinitum is one of just four RTOs in Australia which offer the Vocational Graduate Certificate and Vocational Graduate Diploma level qualifications in Organisational Learning and Capability Development.
