Profits from 'Year of the Tiger International Business Ball'

Paradigm Infinitum is proud to announce that the profits from the 'Year of the Tiger International Business Ball' have now been presented to Queensland Fire and Rescue Service Station Officer David Galvin and his family. The 'International Business Ball' was held in February this year and through the efforts of all involved, almost $7,500 was raised for David. Paradigm Infinitum CEO Kiong Chan and General Manager Shona Leppanen-Gibson met with David and his family along with David's colleagues from the QFRS recently to present the cheques.

"Dave is a former participant in the Paradigm Infinitum LEAD Programme, a one week intensive leadership and strategy course undertaken by many QFRS Station Officers. Late in 2009, he was badly injured in an accident in his spare time, and sustained spinal injuries that have left him paralysed. Dave was a great student, often staying back to discuss some of the key concepts with us and we really enjoyed his enthusiasm and interest," said Kiong Chan.

"We were both shocked and devastated when we heard of his accident, as were many of his colleagues. We knew that we had to do something to help him and his family."

Paradigm Infinitum organised the International Business Ball to coincide with Chinese New Year, and secured mining mogul Prof Clive Palmer as keynote speaker, and the Hon John Mickel MLA, Speaker of the Queensland Parliament and former Trade Minister, Prof Gerhard Peters, Professor of International Business from FDHW University, Germany, Consul Ahmad Khairuddin, Director of the Malaysian Industrial Development Authority, Sydney, and David Goodwin, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Queensland, as panelists for a special international business panel.

"Everyone who came on the night, and all those who provided donations of items and services, big and small, made a real contribution towards this cause. We want to particularly thank David Kemp who was very generous in his support, to the extent of buying all auction items on the night! We also give our sincere thanks to Chief Superintendent Andrew Short from the QFRS who played a key role in helping to garner support for the event and encouraged us in every way," said Kiong.

"We'd also like to thank Dave. We were told that he had maintained a positive attitude throughout his ordeal, but when we actually met with him and his family at his home, we were blown away by just how he has taken all this in his stride and remained bouyant and optimistic. Dave, you are an inspiration to us both, and I am sure to many others," said Shona Leppanen-Gibson.
