Employee Turnover: Nipping Causes in the Bud

February 2008

In today’s highly competitive labour market, dissatisfaction or disharmony within work groups and teams can easily lead to staff turnover. Organisations, particularly in industries experiencing labour shortages such as the mining and resources sector, can’t afford this turnover. The costs of selection, recruitment, training, and enculturation, are already significant – to bear these costs over and over again is unsustainable and ultimately affects the bottom line.

Good leadership and management skills are needed in every industry, but where people work in high risk occupations, and teams are together for extended periods of time in remote locations, like on oil rigs or on mine sites, these skills become increasingly important. In these high pressure situations, personal differences in work preferences within teams can lead to catastrophic consequences and high turnover rates. One issue with traditional leadership and management training is that it is often subjective and qualitative. Being able to measure individual and team interactions quantitatively gives team members practical and effective feedback to guide their actions and improve individual and team performance.

Paradigm Infinitum works with teams to sort out problems, improve morale and enhance performance. Being accredited with the Margerison-McCann Team Management System, arguably the most rigorous profiling system available, Paradigm Infinitum can utilise tools such as team profiling and 360 degree feedback to work with teams to address issues in a practical, structured and positive manner. These quantitative measurement tools allow organisations to not only assess the state of affairs of individuals and teams, but also track the progress of individuals and teams working in conjunction with Paradigm Infinitum.

Using these measurement tools in conjunction with our own training, coaching and consulting services, Paradigm Infinitum can help individuals and teams to dramatically improve their performance. Happier people and happier teams lead to higher morale, increased productivity and lower employee turnover.
